Listen to Mum's words.

Listen to Mom's words. - Title

[Inspired by Jay Chou's song. I thought about writing this since it's Chinese New Year tomorrow and it'll be my mum's birthday at the same time.]

Maybe it came with the sudden awareness that there were only 5 weeks of school left. That left the students with 25 actual days of going to school. Summer was just within reach and some people were already feeling it. Ryan Lee just happened to be one of them.

"Tomorrow's Chinese New Year!" he cheered as he ran and jumped on his bed in celebration. Sol, his dorm mate, grunted things that sounded like "He's so childish," and "Ridiculous, jumping on his bed... how can he have that much energy?" before actually drifting off into sleep. Apparently, not even the hyperactive Chinese jumping on the bed could keep the lethargic Russian from his naps.

Kazu's head stuck out from under the covers laid out on his futon. (The boys wedged a futon in between Sol's and Lee's beds for Kazu to sleep on. Said futon was provided by Violet Young and her powers.) "What are you planning, Rii?" he asked. The Japanese's voice was still a bit squeaky from sleep.

"Asian pride celebration, you mean? Nah, we'll keep it small. Just the five of us..." Lee grinned.

[...Okay, I really need my muse. I'll try writing it again. Argh, I wish I could write really well all the time

One more try.]

Maybe it came with the sudden awareness that there was only 5 more weeks of school left; 25 days of actually coming to school to attend classes. It made a few students impatient, or excited rather, to welcome summer vacation with open arms. Ryan Lee just happened to be one of those students.

"Chinese New Year tomorrow!" he cheered as entered his dorm. He closed the door behind him and tossed the dorm keys on the kitchen counter. He dropped his bag at the foot of his bed -- "Lee, there's a reason why I installed the hooks at the kitchen! You're supposed to leave that there!" Sol groaned. -- and sighed contentedly. Kazu, one of his room mates, stuck his head out from under the mess of bedcovers, blankets, and pillows that lay scattered on the futon the boys wedged in between Sol's and Lee's beds.

"Rii," he said, unwittingly showing his Japanese accent, "Are you planning to celebrate it?"

"Of course! Tomorrow I'll give you guys lai see! In Hong Kong, me and my siblings--"

"My siblings and I," corrected Sol.

"Yeah, whatever, my siblings and I used to get these little red packets filled with money... Well, that's one of the things we'd look forward to, anyway."

Sol looked up from the --

[NO, IT SUCKS.]
